Overview
Delegated Regulation (EU) 2023/2590 supplements Regulation (EU) 2019/2144 and sets detailed rules for the type-approval of motor vehicles with regard to their advanced driver distraction warning (ADDW) systems. An ADDW system helps the driver to keep paying attention to the traffic situation and warns the driver when they are distracted.
Annex I contains the technical requirements and the test procedures for validation by technical services. It has applied from 7 July 2024; from 1 January 2024, at a manufacturer's request, national authorities could not refuse EU type-approval for a new vehicle type that complies with it.
Scope
It applies to motor vehicles of categories M and N.
The regulation applies to the following vehicle categories:
M
Passenger vehicles
N
