Overview
Annex XIII to Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/535 governs EU type-approval of motor vehicles and their trailers with regard to their masses and dimensions. The annex contains the model information document, the technical requirements and the model type-approval certificate.
The technical part opens with definitions and general provisions and gives the requirements by category. It also covers devices left out of the outermost dimensions, permissible deviations, manoeuvrability, aerodynamic devices, the three-dimensional cab envelope, gradeability of off-road vehicles, equivalence to air suspension, and lift or loadable axles. For alternatively fuelled or zero-emission vehicles, the additional weight or the mass of the energy storage system is shown with an additional symbol on the manufacturer's plate.
