Annex XI to Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/535 governs EU type-approval of motor vehicles with regard to reversing motion. The annex contains the model information document, the technical requirements and the model type-approval certificate.
The reversing device must be easy to operate from the driver's position. A brief delay between selecting the reversing mode and its actual engagement is allowed. The Regulation has applied from 6 July 2022. This summary was checked against the consolidated version of 1 January 2025 on EUR-Lex.
Scope
All motor vehicles must be equipped with a reversing device that can be easily operated from the driver's position.
